RV Keyless Lock System

Can this be installed on an Airstream? Does anyone know? I have a 1978 with no key to the door lock. I'm thinking about ordering one because of how I will be using my trailer. Any experience using this keyless lock on an Airstream? All comments and replies much appreciated. I'm looking at the RVLock V4.0 Left handed lock.

You should be able to, but you'll need to install a patch over the existing hole, as it'll be too big for that lock. Email the manufacturer, they may have fielded questions like that before.

I contacted the manufacturer about suitability for my 2006. Response was that it would not fit. I suggest you contact them directly for an answer to your question.

FWIW, the V3 of the lock is on sale for $99 until end of January.

I've never seen a lock that fits the 70's airstream lock as a direct fit due to its large side to side length. Almost all replacements will require a patch to make the hole small enough.

Hopefully if they get enough request for Airstream suitable locks they will be able to engineer one that fits our doors.

Wonder how they take the shock of a camper door slamming or closing hard long term?

Good question, depending on how my trailer is parked it can take a bit of effort to close the door.

A keyless door lock is at the top of my Most Wanted List, not for security as much as fear of locking myself out at the worst possible time.

Well, I was looking at my door handle and lock setup and realized that most all the time we lock the deadbolt below the handle assembly. To me, that's where a keyless entry system would be useful and it appears to be smaller. Most likely it won't happen, if at all, for a while.

I just got a cheap Amazon RV lock, so will be converting my long lock style over to "current" RV lock sizing. Once my Reno is done I'll consider an electronic lock. What held me up was the fact that only the latch, and not the deadbolt is controlled by the keypad on the RVLocks. I may as well just bolt a lockbox to my frame, which I likely will. When I make and install the panel to cover my old lock opening, I'll take pictures and measurements. $300 for a $5 piece of aluminum and a $30 lock in a "kit" is highway robbery.

Following. My dealer suggested looking at this, though they don’t install it. But given the lock setup, I’m not sure how to make it work.
