Rivet Type - Door Strike Plate

The rivets on our door strike plate are loose. This may be a dumb question, but is there a specific type of rivet to use to replace the originals?

Bucked rivets are my guess!

They are most likely bucked rivets placed before the skins were attached to the door frame. You could pull the inside panel(s) off and replace with new bucked rivets or try to peen the existing rivets over to tighten them up. Otherwise, drill them out and replace with Olympic rivets and shave the heads down to look like original rivets. Ed

They are 3/16 pop rivets. They are original.

Airstream also used them on the pocket in the door for the deadbolt on my Excella. I had to remove that one to run new weatherstrip on the door.

They are available at Home Depot. I think I used 1/2" long ones. (I also have them in 1/4" length, but seem to remember that they were too short)

They are much easier to deal with than bucked or Olympic rivets. All you need is the proper sized drill and a pop riveter.
