replacement lock for 1970 BOLES AERO

Hi!

New member - First post... I just got inducted into the world of vintage trailers with the purchase of a 1970 BOLES AERO. It is mostly complete but certainly needs some attention here and there. I'm very excited!

I tried searching the forum, but nothing specifically applicable popped up. The original recessed door latch (on the entry door) is missing the lock. Looking at the empty 'barrel' I'm assuming it was a cam-lock style set-up. I removed and disassembled the latch, but am unsure what style lock or cam I should be looking for. Can anyone provide any specific information on the lock type for this old Boles? Some pictures of the latch would be very helpful, too!

I'd like to replace the missing lock with something close to the stock style. If I can't find anything that will work, or want something more secure, can anyone recommend a modern and secure configuration that is relatively low profile and blends in well to the vintage look of the trailer.

Thanks!

Boles Replacement Lock.

Hi,
It would be helpful to have a picture of your lock, but I did a search and this may be your lock. You will need to confirm it. It is probably a Bargman L-66. I have these new in the box if you are interested. Just send me an email and I will follow up r_whiten@hotmail.com .

Attached is the picture of the Bargman L-66.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Rick

Thanks for the reply, Rick. My lock/latch is quite different from the Bargman. I'll try posting a picture of the latch when I get back to the trailer in the next day or so. I'm thinking I just need a replacement cam lock to fit in the latch assembly... I just don't know what style cam would work in the lock portion of the latch assembly.

Thanks again,
Ethan

Ok, I have several lock types. Use the email address and send me a picture. Maybe I can help you. Might even have just the parts.

Ok... more details on my specific lock/latch.

It is a RICHARD M DECKER CO, Model 1040-B.

I found a complete assembly at vintagetrailersupply.com. My latch mechanism works great and is only missing the lock, so it'd be ideal to just find a lock/cam replacement. I'll try to post some pics. If anyone has the Decker 1040-B, can you email or post some pics?

Thanks!
Ethan
