Can anyone tell me where to get a new latch assembly for my '84 International. The inside handle broke off several months ago, and I'm awfully tired of that pair of vice grips I've been using! I'd even consider replacing the entire works if that's what it takes.
Bennie.
The $500.00 plus door lock was used from 1970 to 1977.
The lock after that was made by Keeler Brass. They are long ago out of business.
However, there is a replacement lock assembly, as a kit, that costs $139.00. A small modification will have to be made to the door. The replacement covers the years from 1978 to 1991.

I ended up putting a Kohler faucet lever on the Argosy I had. The latch was fine but to get the inside handle I would have had to buy the whole thing and Smiles it right, they are close to $500. If you still have a good inside shaft, you can to go to a good old-fashioned plumbing supply, you know the funky one with the cat running loose inside, armed with a pocket caliper so you can measure the i.d of the faucet lever that comes the closest to your missing handle shaft size, probably a short lever Kohler or Chicago. If the inside is square or splined, no biggie, you will end up drilling it out to the size of the inside shaft. Get it drilled out correctly and slide it on where you want it and then drill it for the screw that runs through it. I think that scew is a 6/32, use a s.s. one, much stronger. Good luck!!
I have one on my unit, but so far no problems. What goes wrong with the latch, that warrents replacing the whole thing. My uncle has lathes and milling machines, should be able to make most parts, unless a funny shaped casting breaks or wears out.
