Pet door removal

Hello. I am a first time Airstream owner. I bought a 1984 Sovereign 27'. Everything works and is pretty much original except a pet door. The door is in the front right by the battery. I don't need a pet door. I think something goes there. There are holes other that the door. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The beauty of 'covering' an old access is a patch of the same aluminum can be placed over the old opening and riveted in place.....and it
( the 'patch') will appear perfectly normal. You will need to locate the same aluminum used for your coach and if there is no way to buck the rivets you can use olympic rivets. I shall leave those details to other members who surely will be posting to your question.
Neil.

This looks like the battery box location that the PO modified for a pet. If this is the case, you should be able to convert it back to it's intended function. I recall seeing some battery box doors listed on eaby recently.
Regards,

Kevin

If the PO removed the battery box to put in a pet door, I would check that there is not a Lead Acid battery venting into the living space. If it is a sealed AGM you will be fine.

Yikes, I noticed this pet door wasn't fitted or sealed properly. Note the open seams around the door. You may want to check your subfloor in that area for water damage or rot.

For whatever reason, there is no water damage or rot. It doesn't even smell musty.
