Options for limiting front door swing?
I am looking for ways to limit the front door swing on my 2014 FB 23' Flying cloud. This model has a window that opens where the door will swing and hit. Didn't realize when I bought and after the fact a friend who owns the same model said dealer told them, "Don't ever open that window, it's disaster waiting to happen.". I have a jeep and my jeep doors have a fabric band that attaches to the door and the inside so it can only swing to 90degrees. Thinking about rigging something like this up, but know others must have this problem and may have great solutions.
Anyone got a fix/hack for this?

Thanks, that is how I have been living, but the window is my dining table, so it's prime seating in my little airstream, and needs the breeze if possible

I have same model. It is a disaster waiting to happen. Even thought of wiring window locks shut. Don't open. The large window next to it provides plenty of breeze.

Another great engineering screw up by Airstream. Common sense did not prevail by designers as I see many things not thought out in newer AS, For price of AS you would expect a better product. This probably why 1974 was last life time warranty as corporate was looking for more profit and building cheaper with QC a joke.

We realized the same thing after we did our remodel and had changed the window over what is now our dinette. Came up with a solution to add a SS bar that attached to the door and the side of AS. Bar is about 20" long and stores easily went not needed. It hold the door open and secure so we can open our window. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Same engineering brilliance exhibited in the 28 floor plan of the door being able to swing into an open front window. The bar exhibited above is probably the best solution if one still wants the front window operational.

Problem is if door ACCIDENTLY fully opened while windo open. The bar wouldn't prevent damage.

Same advice I gave your friends:
Pretend that window doesn't open. Same advice I give to the 28' people, and for the same reason. All it takes is a gust of wind when you're not expecting it when opening the door.

Options for limiting front door swing?
This is a design flaw on our FC23FB. I grimace anytime someone refers to 'engineers' at Airstream. These windows would never pass an engineering review in my business (retired). The window next to the door is indeed an accident waiting to happen, and the rear window is an outright safety hazard to anyone walking around the rear. Sure, one can say 'hold onto the door' and 'don't walk into the window pane', but proper engineering should eliminate hazards through design. End of rant.
A fabric safety strap or cord with detachable clip attached to the door and frame would be the best remedy, as our highest probability of a fly away door occurs at highway rest stops when someone needs to access the toilet quickly. It could be unclipped when full opening is desired.
I would love to reverse the door opening. It would then only open to 90 deg with the awning arms deployed, but that would be no problem for us. A door stop/latch on the awning arm would be simple.

Yeah, a non-suicide door swing makes a lot more sense. I have two windows in the dinette aft of the door, do I just leave the one window shut all the time.
Not my kind of engineering, but I have set door swings wrong in a house once. The door stopped on the side of a fridge enclosure. The new owner can deal with it. That was the only error we had in a self-designed monster house in Alabama. Two stories plus walk-out basement. Wife did the design, I did the drawings on the computer.
