Wink Matrix (s) Needed

A Matrix of the many different Locksets/door handles AS has used would certainly IMHO be a real neat resource for the multitudes...don't you think??

I am not capable of producing the matrix (chart with or without pictures that would ID the right part with the right model and year) but I know we have the expertise among us to do just that.

I'm thinking Shari/Inside Out since she did such a good job on her general AS Matrix.
BTW why doesn't Organic Andy include a link to that matrix on the homepage?

There are other items that a good Matrix would surely help many of us sort out too. Any suggestions?

I hereby nominate Shari as the Matrix Matron. She needs another hat .
I suggested the matrix on the thread where a member found an old-New lockset and was making plans to buy a golf course with his proceeds, but I guess the sugestion got lost in the anticipation.

As for the many locksets used, apparently there was something :

aka the "refridgerator style" handle;
Bargman L-66
Bargman L-77
Bargman L-100;
Bargman L-200;
KT (the infamous $575.00 dollar handle);
and probably many more

As for low volume duplication;
There often seeme to be a ripple of interest in someone knowing someone who knows someone who can duplicate obsolete parts, but the initiators always seem to underestimate the difficlty and cost of such undertakings. And I don't recall any of the "pipedreams" ever becoming reality. http://www.airforums.com/forum...ght=door+latch

I have mentioned in post #25 of My Bargman handle thread that a fellow who has successfully had an old handle duplicated is willing to have a go at the L-77 handles if enough (more than 6) people are interested.

I think the lock/handle matrix would be a great tool for many of us if someone has the time and ability to put it together.

btw, I am not planning on buying a golfcourse with the proceeds from my new/old handles and lock. I do have my eye on a rather nice theme park in Florida.

I just noticed that Inland RV now has a replacement kit for the '73-'77 KT lock and the '78-'91 lock. Part #22200 and 22390.
Nice job, Andy

I hereby nominate Shari as the Matrix Matron.

We could call her the Domimatrix....

Thanks.

The KT lock has finally reached to point of being priced out of the market.

A 70 to 72 kit is in developement.

Nice job, Andy
How'd you notice this Rog O525 ?
I went to Inland's web page and only found parts in their "quarterly" sale layout.
No KT knockoffs there yet.

I think I searched the rest of the website thouroughly and found nothing showing or describing those new KT replacements.
Were there pics?
Where can I find the info?

I often go thru Inland Andy's sale list and download all parts, numbers, & prices for everything that will fit my trailer. Makes a nice reference.
I am always hopeful that Inland will take more good pictures and list more of the unshown parts on one of their sales. Many items are duplicates sale after sale which is understandable too.

In case Andy sees this post I wish he'd comment on the "Refer Door Style Handle", Who made it and what models of AS Trailers carried it?
Anyone got a good picture of it?

I was looking for other parts and saw these. I just checked and they're still listed. I also see now that he has a kit to replace the L-77 (part #22370). I believe that's what you're referring to as the ""Refer Door Style Handle".
Mind you, these are kits, not reproductions of the originals. Some modifications are required for installing these kits.

Flicka.

The reefer door style lock has been history for many years.

A couple of people have made a couple of parts for them, but nothing that an owner could bank on.

We decided to come out with a kit for several old style locks, so that you could have some answer other than sorry, can't help you.

All the kits have basic instructions, as to how to install them.

We now then have locks, or lock kits that cover all the Airstream's ever built, except for 1970 to 1972, and we expect to have that one available in a couple of weeks.

It's nice to keep things original, but many times, as with some old Airstream parts, it becomes impossible.

We feel that in those cases, some answer is far superior to no answer.

Andy
