does anybody have one or has anybody made one?i thought about cuting some clear lexan , the same size as the screen area and using velcro too hold it in place and make it removable. while camping i would like to be able to see out while running the a/c without letting my air out
That sounds like a really neat idea. Lexan is pretty pricey, but it would be really nice to see out, especially at rallys and such.
Most places like Home Depot and Lowes seem to have 1/8" Lexan in stock. I think 1/16 would be a lot better. It would be more flexible to follow the curve of the door and plenty strong for the job.

I have seen at a couple of campgrounds the type of "storms" you are describing. I think they were mabe of thin lexan. I would think that making it easily installable and removeable would be key. I would be concerned about cracking the lexan if it was in place while towing.

One thing Lexan won't do is crack. They make vandal-proof light fixtures out of Lexan. I made a new rear canopy for my glider out of Lexan and I can vouch that it is really tough stuff.
Lexan is good UV protection, too.
On the other hand, Lexan can be scratched, although not nearly as easy as plexiglass. I would make cloth bags to protect it when not on the door.

AR-2 Acrylite is flexible, AND, you can scrub it with steel wool and not scratch it. We us it for windows on the older trailers. Cost is a little less than lexan. The coating is the same thing that's used on plastic eyeglasses.
