Main Door Lock Removal - help please

76 Tradewind LY. I need to replace the cylinder but cannot remove the locck from the door.
I removed the 4 screws , inside door handle and unscrewed small lock catch.
I was unable to get the lock to slide out, the striker will not recess enough to allow me to push the lock out square and the inside handle shaft stops the lock sliding back and out.
I might have to make the inside handle shaft hole bigger is there anothe way?
See illustration (if I can figure out how to attach it)

You can make the hole bigger or you could remove some of the rivets around the interior skin and pull the skin away from the interior door handle shaft

Manual recommends removing rivets as Aerowood said.

"remove rivets from center seam of inside door skin, also from edge of door approxiamtely 12" in each direction".
