Lock Acting Weird

I just got home from taking my Airstream in for warranty work. I live in Denver and took a road trip to Tucson. The folks at Lazy Days in Tucson are the absolute best!

I am having some challenges getting the door to open. The top lock seems weird. Sometimes the key opens it all the way and sometimes not. Then, I have to pull really hard on the handle to get the door to open.

I don't want to take my Airstream to the Denver dealer unless I absolutely have to. Any ideas on how I can fix the lock, or, can a locksmith do it?

Thanks for your ideas!

You may want to read this site.

There is a Federal recall on RV door locks that fail.

http://www.fastecindustrial.com/reca...l%20letter.pdf

If your lock is one of these I have contacted the company directly and had a replacement ship directly to me for replacement in a friend SOB.

It is an easy replacement so no need for a "Stealer".

Try lubricating your lock. I thought our door needed adjustment, but a friend sprayed it with WD 40 and it works great now.

Lubricating your lock is a great idea. I had issues (hard to turn the key) in my forward outside storage door until I used a little squeeze bottle of graphite I bought at True Value or the like. Worked really well on all our locks. All of them became smoother after the graphite treatment.

Thanks! I will give those things a try and will also see if my lock is the one on the recall list.
