Keys Please?

Along with my previous thread, I need keys for the locks. Are all the locks keyed the same? Will I need to visit a locksmith with a hatch door or can someone here help me?

Thanks

Curt

Are you referring to the compartment door locks or the entry door? If compartment doors, try this. Go to your local RV parts supplier and buy several cam locks all with different numbered keys. You might find 5 or 6 different sets. Try them and chances are one of those keys will work. Return the ones that don't fit. I did this on mine and it worked perfectly. I needed to buy another cam lock anyway so now both of them match.

This place here Search Results : ODMRV , Out-of-Doors Mart sells keys that might work on your Airstream. If they don't have something that fits it's locksmith time.

New Locks

Welcome to the Forums -

Probably quicker and cheaper to just purchase a complete new set of cam locks - they are available from a myriad of places.

Search "water door lock" in the "advanced search" function. This is a different lock, but (I think) one lock fits all. Not nearly as inexpensive as the cam locks for the hatches....you are on your own with the door locks - please post your solution.

Remember, most everything has been done before, lots of pictures here if you go looking for them. Some solutions will be easy, some not so easy.

Post lots of pics and take even more - document everything - leave a pack of Sharpies in the trailer to mark each piece you remove on the front, back, and sides.

For front door keys on our 1994 35 footer I went to our little home town hardware store in Springfield [pop. 1700] Colorado. Finding blanks may be easier than you think. You might also try your local locksmith.
