Key for Water Fill

Hi everybody.
Looking at the Key's Chart we see that out
1972 AS as the following locks
Access Door 1101X
Battery Box 1101X
Water Fill G248
Looking @
Keys : Out-of-Doors Mart!, More Airstream Parts on-line than anyone!
We see that they are showing 2 options for WaterFill Keys for AS from 70s to mid 80s.
Any idea witch one should be the one to choose?
Thanks

I bought the one ODM calls WF-01 and it worked for my '75 Argosy's Thetford water-fill door.

Hi DKB
Thanks for the fast response.
By looking at their website and the pictures of the water fill lock it looks the same.
and since we need keys anyways this may work. just don't want to wait few day and then figure it out that we order the wrong keys!
We are also assuming that the access keys were are only one kind since they have only one for sale?
Regards

Airstream tends to use the same key for all trailers on the lockers, battery doors and water fill. So in general every airstream in year X had the same locker key, etc. Of course, when they changed they continued to use up old stock before starting on the new one, so there's some vagueness in the year a particular key started and stopped, which is reflected in a PDF of key codes by year that Airstream used to host on their service site. They've shuffled pages around and I no longer have a good link to that PDF.

My '74 Argosy has 5 doors counting the entry door. It takes 4 different keys to open all of the doors. Key #87 = water door; Key #244 = refer and curb side storage doors; The key for the entry door is #733, but it is a new lock cylinder. The battery door takes another key which is not numbered. The blank # of this key is L1054B by ilco.

@VeggieBullet: That's the one! I've now saved a copy in my Airstream folder on the NAS, thank you.

That key appears quite similar to the one the worked in the original water fill on my Minuet. You may find the same thing that I did . . . the old lock has seized and either needs liberal treatment with PB Blaster to free it . . . or it may require drilling out the lock cylinder and replacing the cylinder with a new unit. Once I was able to access the water fill on my Minuet, I learned that the internal portion of the fill (made of plastic/ABS/fiberglasss or similar) had deteriorated to the point that it leaked profusely and was not repairable. In the end, I ended up having my Airstream dealer replace the entire unit with a new plastic fill device . . . not as elegant as the original, but at least it doesn't leak.

Good luck with your investigation and research!

Kevin

Has anyone tried contacting Thetford to see if they might have keys?
