Ok, thanks. I thought there may be something special about them since it seemed to have a bushing with it. I'll measure the one I have and head to the hardware store.

The main roll pin is 1/4" in diameter and you can get them from McMaster.com.

I got lucky, I took the lock apart last night to see what size the pins were (before I saw your post Perry, thanks!). The lower pin had just been pushed down into the lock assembly. I was able to put everything back together and it works fine.
Two repairs in fifteen minutes, door lock and water heater. I had to stop for the evening so my luck didn't run out.
I'll pick up a couple roll pins to go as spares in my AS tool kit.

It should be just one long pin.

Maybe I don't have a Keeler, it looks like the pictures but maybe they changed to something else for 1993. Mine had two 1/4" pins that were about 3/8" long, one was pressed in from the top and one was pressed in from the bottom.

Ok, here's the photo of my lock. Now the experts can tell me what I have so I can find parts if needed.

That is not the Keeler Lock. I would talk to Andy at Inland RV and see if he can ID that lock for you.

That looks much like mine. Mine is a smoothe finish and no key in the handle. I have a crack in the handle and am looking to find a replacement before the dreaded break occurs.

Scroll up a page or tow and see if yours looks like the ones earlier in the post?

Perry, I need to get another look at mine to be sure. I should just take a pix and be done with it. I'll do that ASAP.
Thanks,

Alden, did you ever identify your handle/lock mechanism positively? I need to repair or replace mine on a 1993 Excella 30'. Either the casting or the pin broke at the bottom where it swivels/hinges. It looks--from my memory--just like yours, unfortunately the Airstream is 200 miles away in storage for a week. I want to have the right part when I return. Thanks. Steve

I did not. The bottom pin of the handle kept falling out after 10 or 20 uses. It should have been a tighter press fit. A little dab of silicone underneath it has kept it from dropping out so for now it's working.

Here is what I have learned (slowly)--I was able to find a replacement lock/handle--item #43610, made by FasTec Industrial Corp (FIC) as the original mfr (Tri/Mark) is gone. The new one will fit, but as it has a deadbolt feature, I’d have to drill out the door end for the deadbolt and relocated mounting screw (and I was 200 miles from my shop with real tools). So I began a search for a solution to the weak link in my original--the plastic bushing with a shoulder that the roll pin fits into--no such luck. As a last ditch attempt, I stopped at Ace Hardware (my 5th or 6th establishment to try) and the helpful hardware guy said “ sure I have what you need”. Skeptical, but very interested, I followed him to what he called a “plumbing compression fitting”--that is not what I’d call it, but whatever. Picture a thin walled brass bushing with a shoulder and hole all the way through--very similar to a 22 caliber shell casing with a hole at the primer end. I bought two--the roll pin fit very well--took them home and cut to length, put a bit of grease in the end, recrimped the roll pins to be tight enough and reassembled. After a bit of wiggling and lubrication, it now seems to work just fine and I will install later in the month when I return to the Airstream. I am reasonably sure this design is superior to the plastic bushing. After I reinstall, then I will return the ~$40 replacement unit and have only $1 in the actual repair. Hopefully this may help someone else in similar circumstances.

Tri-mark is still very much in business.
We purchase from them every month, up to and including 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for correcting my impression/statement. I was told they did not supply the handles/locks anymore and replacement parts were not available--thus my search for a solution elsewhere--it seems that perhaps I should have done further research, too.

Steve.
There is a lock kit available that replaces the Keeler Brass lock.
