interior door trim removal

how do you remove the inner door trim on a 1974 soveriegn?

does it pop off?

i need it off to get the lower inside skin off for a subfloor replacement.

I was able to remove the inner skin around mine once I drilled out all the rivets without removing the door trim. There maybe a hidden rivet or two that can be taken care of with a sharp wood chisel.

slowly, we used a small wonder bar and worked around slowly prying, eventually it came off

Assuming that a 74 is the same as a 72, yes the trim pops off. It's a "T" shaped trim where the stem of the T goes into a slot in the door frame. It's held in place with clips, some of which will come out with the trim and some will remain in the slot. To re-install, place the clip on the trim before gently banging it back into the slot in the door frame. If memory serves, I used a small pry bar to remove ours.

My '76 was pop riveted through the door jamb.

door trim

i can see pop rivets thru the door jamb towrds the inside... i think these are holding the door trim on... i tried to see if it would pop off but it wont so ill drill them out there is maybe 6 or 8 total
