Hinge pin removal question

On my 1991 I want ot remove the hinge pins to repair, weld, the screen door.

The pins appear to have an allen slot at the bottom. One, is the allen English or Metric? I ask this because they seam to be sloppy English and there fore might slip if i put heavy pressure on them.

Two, what is best to soak the top threaded section of the pin with to hopefully loosen them before I attempt to remove them?

Can't help you with a 91, but on my 75 I had to remove the rivets from the door.

Not sure how yours comes apart but Im told the KROIL is the best pennatrating oil on the market. Its a little pricey at about 6 bucks a can.(areisol) ITs also hard to find, not too many places stock it,but you can find it on line and have it shipped if your not in a great hurry. Liquid Wrench is about second in formulation.
GOOD LUCK with your project. I need to do the same thing to the screen door on our 77,it has a crack also. The other thing thats hard to find in my area is someone who is really quailified with TIG.

The reason I believe it should come apart is the presence of the Allen slot on the bottom. But 20 year of oxide is going to make it difficult.

If it is threaded I just hope they are not left handed threads and I strip the Allen on the first try.

One of the car magazines did a test with Kroil, PB Blaster, Liquid wrench, & a 50 50 mix of auto trans fluid and acetone. The Trans fluid and acetone mix won hands down.
