hinge on door coming lose

I have a 1996 limited airstream---- the upper hinge has become lose and the door drops when it is open. the big screws just keep turning like they are in a nut or something. with the interior wall the way it is, you cannot get to the backside where it screws into---- does anyone know the best way to repair this? thanks

Unfortunately this is another problem A$ has had for years since they use a nut on the back side instead of a threaded plate that matches the hole pattern of the hinge.
So now you get to drill holes in the inner skin to gain access to the nuts with a wrench.

Remove the inner skin. It is just pop-riveted. Then you can wrench the nut side. I would use a bit of thread locking glue to keep it the way you put it.

When you put the skin back on just make sure the door shape does not change, the inner and outer skin does effect the curve in the door.

Airstreams built from about 2011 I believe, have the plate on the inside. One of our hinge screws loosened and we were quite able to snug it down very tight from the outside.

I believe you can get this plate from Airstream and put it in your unit if you decide to pull the skin back.
