Hi Kat, Can you post a picture of where the lock was? This will give the members a better idea of what your looking at.

there was a 56 bubble for $5000 on Portland's Craigslist-you need anything else? close to home, either that or it is the one you wish to sell...

Ummm! Kat seems to have the 56 Bubble. Unless I'm reading this wrong she just needs a door handle.

I was told by Vintage Airstream...Steve...that the handles would be recast and available this month. I'm still waiting...but on the list. I need some of the other parts for it too. Anybody have any of those parts? Please call.

hello kat, i also have a 56 bubble whale tail which needs a few door parts too. let me know if you come across any extra stuff. i need the exterior handle, the exterior key mechanism (i assume their's a key mechanism to lock), and the exterior plate that covers the hole at the handle location. i have the lock mechanism which is good. do you happen to have closup pictures of what a complete door inside and out looks like? i need to figure out the whole door within a door thing as well--i assume there is supposed to be a screen on the inside right. how long have you had yours and where are you at in the project? i bought the one listed in portland this weekend and am starting my plans for the interior rebuild. you can see the pics from the previous owner in the forum bubble page. it's the one with the woodie interior. cheers and send me a line.

We took our '56 Safari's door apart to rebuild it during our restoration. There are a few pictures on our thread that may help you out starting around post #171
