Help! Exterior door lock removal 1970 Safari

This should be a simple task but I can't remove the exterior door lock due to a bolt/pin that attaches to the interior handle? The interior handle comes off easy with one screw however I can't get the unit to come off without removing this pin?

Welcome to the forums!
The lock you have was used from 70 to 77, I believe. Removal is fairly simple. You have the interior handle off and the interior locking knob simply unscrews. You then have three screws on the interior side of the door and one screw that is located in the door jam.

BTW, be careful with the lock, it is pricey!

Thanks Azflycaster, I just need to put a vice on the pin and it unscrews? There was a small pin next to it that I just had to unscrew however this thing was on pretty tight. Maybe it's not original and the previous owner rigged it? Thanks again!

Here are the directions from my service manual. They say to remove some inner rivets and pull back some skin. I did not need to do that. The pin that screws out is #6 in the picture.
