Exterior door lock replacement 1986 Excella

I need to replace or repair the lock on the exterior door of my 86 Excella. The PO did some repair on it and did not put the thumb latch back in on the inside of the door. The lock will not stay unlocked without it. Does anyone know of a lock set that will match this lock for replacement. I looked but have not been able to find one with the same foot print, inside and out.

I think 1986 was another of the unobtainium locks. Most of those locks had problems with the outside handle breaking, you may be able to find an inside assembly from a broken one. If not, you're going to have to go the "cut and splice" route. Kits are available from many Airstream dealers for these.

I sure hate to go with the "cut and splice" replacement lock. If anyone has a salvaged lock that has the thumb latch please let me know. I will try and get a picture posted today.

There is someone on this forum that makes the outer handle for the door. I know because I bought one from him. Just can't remember his name...... My inner parts broke too & a good friend who is a machinist replaced the broken part.
