Originally the pins (with knurled ends) were just pressed into the hinge body. Mine were not maintained in the 11 years before I bought it and the hinge bodies were wallowed out. I tried to peen them in, but it didn't hold. The pins on the new trailers have a groove in them and once put in place a c-clip is driven in between the top hinge block and the block on the door and captures the groove in the pin. New pins are about $10 each. I just ordered some but haven't installed them yet.
