Well the day started out fine in Munising MI this July as I left the trailer, closed the door, and promptly locked my wife into our trailer, with a broken off latch. After 90 minutes of climbing in and out of the front window and taking off the inside cover plate, no luck with opening the door or bumping out the set, as two screws hold it in from the jamb side. Went to our next destination in Ishpiming (Marquette) which had an RV dealer next door, and paid them to open the lock by removing the broken slide bolt. For temporary security we attached at the bottom of the door a slide bolt and small lock...like that would keep anyone out, but at least it secures the door while on the road.
This story is likely familiar to those of you who have had this experience and the vintage lock that Airstream stopped using.....so here is my question.
It appears that this is a Bargmann lock....but does anyone know the likely model number. My first thought was to find an identical replacement, there seems to be many, on eBay.....as opposed to retrofitting a newer mechanism with aluminum patches as well.
I attach a pic of the inside of the lock, if that is helpful
Thought about leaving my wife in the coach for a few days....but the weather up here is in the 80s and would not be able to get rid of the smell....plus she is smaller than me and clambered out the front window with ease.
