Andy -

That's one of the nicest things I've seen offered in a long time. Thanks.

I just wish I was closer to California so I could bring my trailer in to you for service from time to time. Can you move farther east?

John

You indeed have the 67 deadbolt.

Parts have not been available for at least 30 years. Perhaps you can fabricate something.

The shaft was nothing more than a round section of aluminum.

The correct operation from the outside is that you can "lock" and "unlock" the deadbolt.

The correct operation from the inside is that you can only "unlock" the deadbolt.

Safford RV is OK, but they don't specialize in Airstreams and they are 150 miles from me. How about opening a second location HERE, pretty please?

I know two people who need axle replacements... surely that will pay for the new location .

Thanks for your offer.

Andy,
What a guy! Are new models (07's) vulnerable to the slam lock? Pictures looks like my door. I make a habit of always carrying a set of keys with me, and keeping another in the truck (accessible with the door code lock). However, it only takes ONCE!!!
Will be glad to make a 'donation'.
Thanks

Sorry.

I installed that door lock fix yesterday and it's easy to do and seems to work well. On my 2007 Safari I didn't have to take the pcok apart, just loosen the screws and you can work the washers in there- I'd say use the plasitc and the felt washers on a 2007.

Thanks Andy.

I am mailing the envelop Monday and greatly appreciate what you are doing. I wondered what happened to the lock. We thought one of us had accidently flipped the lock closed. I was lucky the back bedroom window was open and I push the screen in and climb through and opened the trailer. We are going to put an extra key in a lock box on the tongue of the trailer from now on.

Andy - I hope the offer still stands - I'm sending the SASE today. This situation cost me a window screen in the dinette area over the weekend. We cut it out and climbed through - luckily the window was open, or we'd have had to call a locksmith.

The offer still stands and will stand indefinitely.

Unfortunately, most of the owners that have requested that kit, were already locked out.

We had hoped that many owners would request that "NO CHARGE" kit, "BEFORE" they got locked out, but time will tell.

Post the results after you install the kit, so others will know how simple it is to do.

Andy,

What size envelope- #10, for folded letter or the larger 8 1/2x 11.

We're head to northern MN. soon and I'd hate to get locked out after an early morning skiny dip in one of their 10,000 lakes.

Probably way more info than you need....

Thanks again for this.

Jonathan

Unfortunately, that's how I learn MOST of the lessons in life - by dealing with the consequences!!! I'll bet I'm not the ONLY one on this forum in that boat!

I'll post results and pictures too if I remember my digital camera!

Thanks again!

Thank you, Andy. We have been locked out on our ’99, but had a window
open.
We just had a spring break on our ’78 Argosy and had to remove the
door. The lever on the vertical shaft is broken (part #4). Are there any parts available for it?
Bob

We have all the parts for the KT locks, the infamous lock used by Airstream from 1070 thru and including the 1977 model Airstream and Argosy trailers.
