Only a former shop owner would ask that question! 😂

Here's the latest (pre-wash - don't judge...it was a bad snow storm through PA getting here....)

Did they match your keys for the new door? Having separate keys would drive me nuts, not that I'm already half way there.

No - no matching locks. I asked - they don't do it.

As a side note - I got a set of blanks to make a full extra spare set of all 6 (now) keys and they told me to have them cut at the hardware store right down the street from the factory. So I did. The woman behind the counter took my keys, cut the set, told me if they didn't work to come right back and handed them over to me. I asked what I owed and she said "nothing".

I was flabbergasted. I went back later that afternoon to buy a socket and extension. They're good people there!!

Thanks for the photos. I forgot the door is so close to the bed, so you are going to have a great cross-breeze in the bedroom in hot weather! Not sure if you want to sleep with only the screen door there, but you will figure it out. Even if you keep the main door open in the evening and close it when retiring, it will help cool that end of the trailer off just great. And not feeling trapped there will bring peace of mind, as you anticipated. A great investment IMO, and an option AS should offer.

PS years ago we had a 25' with a rear corner bed, and always had doubts about the egress, although the rear window over the bumper storage was a bit easier than your window was . . .

PS2 reassuring that there are still great local hardware stores with decent and generous folks . . .

That new door is so close to the hook-up area, I'm afraid that if I had it, I would start keeping tools right inside the door. SuEllyn probably wouldn't like that. Looks great.

Garrett (the tech who did the work - and did it perfectly!) was saying - man, you could just use this entrance to put a lot of gear right in that spot under the bed 😀😀😀

The door was perfectly installed. It closes like a vault. It makes me want to fix the main entrance but I'm really ready to head back home.

Thanks for the compliments, Brian.

Nice to find a small town business like that still... Glad you went back and purchased something from them!

For the record, it would be child's play for a decent locksmith to match the lock sets so that one key opened both doors Steve... Just something to keep in mind.

Awesome addition to the Airstream by the way! Hope everyone sleeps well now!

Brian, Very impressed with the install. I like the idea of cross ventilation and versatility of entering from either side. It will make it easier for everybody to escape, including the 4 footed Patriots fan.

Hi, who will be the closest to the new emergency exit door Steve, Sue, or Mac?

First, thanks for the earlier complement.

Now, this is a secret I can't reveal - I can say all 3 inhabitants (Steve, Sue and Daisy) are Macs and will all be out the door in roughly the same amount of time 😀

Well don't give Moosetags the credit for this 😜...

Thanks - I'm really happy with it, especially for the 4-footed Pats fan! 😀

Thanks, Lisa. The guys at Jackson Center are expecting they'll get a few more requests for this. I told them when they make it standard, I want a royalty....like 30% per trailer 😀

Having a door on the street side would make this Airstream very attractive to the resale market in Japan and the UK someday. 😃

So I got that going for me 😜

Just brought it back home and packed it up. Another benefit....

I usually store the ProPride stinger and associated tools in a bag that I was storing inside the door of the trailer (at the back of the trailer). Now, I can just take 3 steps from the hitch and drop it on the bedroom floor! I like that! 😀
