Door sealing? How to know? Feeler gauge!
Here is the 'problem'..
Prior to replacing or adjusting my door on our Excella, I noticed our door did not seem to properly 'seal'... one hint was that you would hear a 'buzz' from the gasket as air sucks through the gasket.
So, I took a strip of paper... and closed the door on it so that the gasket was trapped.
Now I had a 'feeler' gauge!
I tested several points around the perimeter of the door by capturing the paper between the gasket and the door frame.. and gently pulling... making mental notes of the 'pressures' required to slide the paper at each location.
Next, I removed the gasket material and repeated the process.. nearly Zero pressure...
After install of NEW gasket, I retested and the pressure required to pull the paper 'feeler gauge' and it was significantly tighter...
Oh.. and the door closes tighter.. more snugly... hmmm.. good! So, rather than bending the door to reshape it, the problem was with the gasket all along.
Note... when I removed the old gasket, I found two layers of 'double sided' tape under the gasket!!! so, someone had 'shimmed' the old gasket in attempt to make it 'snug'... all along it needed a new gasket...
Oh.. Thanks to Andy at Inland for their excellent service and providing the new gasket material for the door!!!
