door opening - but still locked??

Hi - I have owned my 80 31' International for only about a year. Unfortunately it's been mostly sitting in storage, except for 2 moves. My question is regarding heat expansion (I think and hope).

At least 2 times I have shown up to do some work on her and have found the door ajar, but still locked. I'm in AZ where it can really hot and I was wondering if the cooling and heating could cause the chassis to expand to the point of the latch slipping free. This happened some time in the past week and it's been unseasonably cold and just in the past few days has it warmed up. I did examine the door's exterior for pry marks and have not found any indication of that, and nothing is missing from inside.
Has anyone seen anything like this?
Thanks in advance!
Larry

Larry.

Post a close up photo of the entrance door lock area.

The door could be misaligned, the striker bolt and/or striker pocket could be worn out.

Andy

thanks Andy! I'll do that next time I take a run up to where I have it stored/parked. Probably be next weekend at the soonest.

Larry
