Door lock 1968 28'

I have read lots of posts and now im more confuzed about what to do. I have all the pieces to this door handle. I am unsure what bargman model or part I may need. As you can see the striker is busted at the ends. Hope the pictures help a bit.

That's a Bargman L100 special.

www.inlandrv.com or www.vintagetrailersupply.com both would have them (and would others). As Terry mentioned it is the special, not the standard one you get at RV shops, the striker is longer than the standard L-100. Both places list them as having the machined longer striker bolt

The original -100 striker bolt was cast.

We learned that Bargmanns mold broke, about a year ago..

Airstream then came out with a machined "striker bolt".

So there would be no way to really find a replacement striker? Do I have to buy the entire door handle? Thanks for all your input.

The new style striker bolt will work fine, assuming the rest of the lock is OK.

Andy what would you recommend. That I buy the new lock. Do you have the entire lock etc. And or the striker.

If you can get a machined striker bolt vs the cast one, do it. Mine broke exactly like yours. The broken pieces blocked the bolt so that it could not be withdrawn from the door frame, trapping me inside the trailer. One of the screw heads stripped out, necessitating removing parts with channel locks. To replace the lock, I had to remove the door's inner skin.

Extreme example, but the cast striker bolt has been the problem with both L100s I have had to replace.

Only you can see the condition of the original lock.

If it's worn, replace it, as an assembly. Then it will probably only last another 40 years.

If you want to replace just the striker bolt, you can do that, but then you still have an old lock.

The correct striker pocket is made with Nylon.
