Door latch broken

I'm having problems with the door latch on a '76 Sovereign. The key will turn the lock and I can feel it pass the point where the lock releases, but the door handle does not seem to be attached to whatever it is that pulls the plunger loose to open the door. Any suggestions that don't involve a crow bar or breaking a window???

Contact Andy at Inland RV. He has a method of entry that will not damage anything. He will not post it here so as to avoid tipping off thieves. It sounds like to me that the split pin on the striker post has broken and will not allow the handle to move the striker. Once inside you can remove the lock set and see the broken pin. It is easily replaced and you should be able to purchase it at any fastener supply or hardware store. I attached a pic for you.

The Andy method should get you in, but in case it does not, you may be able to yank out the tumbler/ key mechanism, but check out replacement first. Should be a standard item available through locksmiths. If that is a KT200 lock some parts are very expensive to replace. Once you get in you may want to talk to Inland RV about upgrading to their replacement lock kit. It's cheaper and reliable.

Thank you all so much for your help. I'm going to try the Andy entry method and see what happens next!
