door handle rebuild question ?

Hi and thanks for any input or direction you may be willing to share.
I have a 73 airstream that needs the door latch repaired . I took the latch out to take a look and thought maybe a simple fix but really dont understand how it works.

When you pull the outside handle to open door it's very loose and it dosent connect or push or pull anything , it's just loose and held on by the rod . Does anyone have pics or a rebuid kit. Or any help in a direction with this would be really helpful.
hopeful Thanks in advance !

The OEM lock is a Bargman KT 200. Parts and replacement are available but are very expensive. You can get parts or send the lock for repair to Inland RV. Inland RV also has a less expensive lock replacement kit. From your description it sounds like a small tang is not engaging the notch in the shaft which moves the deadbolt. A photo of the inside of yours would help but maybe these photos will help.

The lock Airstream used from 1970 to 1977 was made by a company called, "KT".

They never had a relationship with Bargman.

The Bargman L-200 lock was used from 1966 to 1969.

The L-200 inside handle was very prone to breaking, therefore the L-100, that has a round knob on the inside, has been used as a replacement.

The only difference between the L-100 and the L-200, is the inside handle/knob.

Hi Greg, You don't happen to have a blow up for a KT?
That is the lock that dodge4me is trying to repair.

Here is another thread on that lock. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f453/kt200-49272.html
