Door Handle/Latch needed

I need to replace the main door handle/latch on '73 . Mine has been butchered to put it politely. I can't afford a new one (shame) so looking for anything that is better than mine !

Not worried about having key/working lock, I've never had one so why start now - I can move thd latch mechanism over from mine if need be.

Many thanks

Steve

What is wrong with your latch? Almost anything metal can be fixed. I had to reweld the tongue on mine after it broke off. The spring will be the hardest part to remake.

I was able to find a new handle on ebay for a reasonable price. It has a small amount of damage at one corner that is purely cosmetic. I do want a handle that both latches and locks. After I switch it out next month, if I think the old one is of any value, I'll make it available here on the forums.

Doesn't show in the picture but it got sand or something (heavy file ?) and scratched up - then painted... from the picture its looks ok but to the naked eye not so good sadly.

If I haven't got one by then I would be willing to make you reasonable offer.

Hey, I could really use any functioning exterior door handle for a '73. Someone broke the tongue/flange part off. No reasonable offer refused. Otherwise, any ideas?

Do you have two trailers, or was the above a typo? (Your profile says you have a 1972 21' Globetrotter).

Inland RV sells a new replacement kit for this lock that, if I remember right is around $150. They also sell a new lock same as the original which is much more expensive. The new lock also has a flush handle, I think, but is a different size. Installation requires some door modification, what exactly I am not sure.

There is a product called "Liquid Stainless" that I have wanted to try on my lock, but have not got around to it yet.
