Door frame /door trim
I am getting a lot of aluminum dust / oxide on the lower front portion of the door frame. There is a "gouge" forming along the frame where the lower portion of the door frame rubs into the trim on the door, itself. At first we thought that we had gotten into some grease with the stains on our pants and socks, but it is coming from the door frame as we step out of the trailer... any thoughts for correcting ... sandpaper between the frame and trim until clearance allows moving of the sandpaper freely? It appears that the door has slightly more curvature at the bottom than the fram/trailer.

I just noticed the same problem on my 2010 Flying Cloud. The bottom inside trim of the door is rubbing against the outside face of the doorframe, making a horizontal groove. My door needs a good slam to close properly and it bothers me that I have to do this. I have read some about adjusting the door, but not sure it addresses this issue.
Any luck getting you problem fixed?

Hi, mine was doing the same thing. I lifted my door and put "E" clips (2) on the lower part of each hinge pin.
Note: I'm on the road now and I don't have those pictures on this computer.

Will-I have noticed that the door requires more effort to close fully as well... sometimes not easy from the inside and always with an extra push from the outside. Something seems to be shifting in alignment because I now notice that the dead bolt latches and unlocks with more friction as the key is turned. Could it be related to our temperature extremes in this latitude?
Is this just a regular maintenance item or a design issue - I've watched the videos on line for door "adjustment"; however, it would seem that if the door was aligned properly at the factory, then something must be causing a shift to make it need re-alignment.
Robert - I don't understand your suggestion for remedy ...

Hi, It stopped raining so I went out and took a few new pictures for you. On the hinge, there is some slop. You lift the door [mine was rubbing on the bottom] and install one or two "E" clips around the hinge pin. This will hold the door up higher. Also it is very common for the hex on the door striker to rub inside of the cogs on the door latch. To cure this, I removed the striker and added a flat washer to space it out.
(1.) In the very bottom gap on the door hinge, you can see the black spacers inserted around the hinge pin.[I used two on each]
(2.) On my door striker, the smaller washer is the one that I added. The striker nut plate is held in place with a pop rivet. I replaced mine with a screw. Note: do not remove pop rivet when the striker is removed, or the nut plate will fall into never never land.

Unfortunately, the door hinge and striker post both seem to be in order ... but the bottom of the door still rubs against the trailer door frame ... ?

Have you taken it to your dealer? Sounds like a warranty question to me...

Hi, mine did too, but putting the spacers ["E" clips] in the hinge gap, at the bottom, raised my door slightly and it no longer rubs on the bottom.

There is no room for e-clips / circlips to fit ... no vertical movement in the door / hinge. Dealer is new to AS... not big on being a service dept guinea pig on door issue.

So I read Bob's idea of the e clips. in another thread I described my door adjustment and was pretty happy with the results of the "bendng" and post adjusting in the famous AS video. I also had rubbing at the bottom edge of the door in the frame sill.
So I went out and looked closely. My whole door is actually hanging by the top hinge and the washer has cut into the upper frame side hinge half.
To put it another way, it took one e clip in the top hinge and FIVE in the lower to, both raise the door and have somewhat even door pressure on each hinge. Also, no more contact with the door frame at the bottom edge.
But, thanks to Bob, the door actually closes with an ever so slight push and a latch tone which is very pleasing to the ear!
