Don't do this, but if you do ...

A real newbie mistake, I left the key in the door (I'll just be a sec), small gust of wind and voila! ... another rivet dimple ... 'cept in a spot with no rivet.

Our first dent! Not deep, not sharp, can't see it I every light. ... but it's there.

Maybe I'm not the first to do this?

I looked into the dent removal shops, they could likely pull it out with no problem, but their minimum is about 100 bucks. And knowing myself, I'll probably do it again one day anyway.

Trying this fix, 4x2 black aluminum strip (.025), engraved, attached with VHB tape. Should protect the spot from further unplanned contact. Doesn't look badly out of place with the black plastic door catch piece just alongside.

I think mine has a little rubber bumper in that spot.

I like your new name tag though, classy!

This is probably as good a place as any to remind people with the opening windows in that spot to never open that window, as a gust of wind will create some flow-through ventilation as well as a pile of broken glass at that spot.
