Do you have a picture of the KT lock, is it still available?

I have no idea why the labels for the above photo's did not show.

The top lock is the "KT" lock.

The bottom lock is the Bargmann L-400 lock.

The KT lock is still available, but expensive.

Depending on the year trailer, there are kits available that replace the KT lock, that cost much less, but plates must be added to the door.

Andy, I just jumped into this message trail and found it fitting. Possilbly you can help me as well. I have broken the door handle on my trailer. the handel ID says Theodore Bargman model 10-40-010 on the lock plate and 10-40-030 on the handle plate. Best I can tell the package looks just like a Bagman L400 which reports to be 6 7/8"x2 3/4". My latch is 6 1/4x 2 1/4". I am new at this and am not sure where to find a L400 of if it might fit. any thoughts you might share would be great.

That indeed is the L-400, but the dimensions on the outside are 6 7/8 X 2 7/8.
However, the markings on the inside and outside plates, match your numbers.

I managed to find an L400 to replace the one on my trialer. It was gray and not chrome. It also had a different bolt than the original and it too some modification tot he bolt and spacer. I used the bolt from the old lock and between the old lock and the new one got one good lock for the trailer. I kept the old lock for potential spares.

Shan.

You may have to modify the door and use a different lock, since the L-400 has not been made for several years.

There was a fellow selling parts fro the L400's on Ebay. You might cehck there. Otehrwise you are out of luck and will have to modify the door. I managed to score one from a fellow on ther Avion Yahoo group last year. He had two, new in the box locks and sold me one...he is keeping the other as a spare for his trailer.

Have you tried the Silver Avion yahoo group to see if anyone there has a used L400 laying about. I kept my L400 as there are some parts that I might be able to use at a later date.

1985 Airstream Bargman Door Lock?

HI Andy,

After closing the door on my '85 Sovereign from the outside yesterday - I discovered this morning that the latch is broken and the door can't be opened from the outside. I'm locked out.

I'm planning to send my wife through the access door to attempt opening the door from the inside.

QUESTION: What type of Bargman door set model was used in 1985? I will need to get another one asap as we're planning a trip on the 26th.

Any info you have on where I can look to find a replacement or rebuild kit would be very helpful...

Your buddy in New Mexico,

Art Flynn
