dead dead bolt

My wife and I are getting to know the 2009 (but never used) 16' International Ocean Breeze we just bought, and getting ready for our first outing.

So far the only quirk we've come across is that the dead bolt is just that - dead. The key turns freely, the inside latch turns freely, but the bolt does not emerge from the door frame.

I'm thinking about taking apart the main door latch assembly a few inches above the deadbolt to see if I can gain access to fix the problem, but I'm afraid I'll do more harm than good.

Does anyone know of an easy fix for this problem, or am I in for a trip to my "local" (80 miles away) AS dealer? Thanks!

Hi,

I can't help you with the lock issue but I am curious about your AS. Did you buy it new and just have not used it or did you happen to find a leftover 09? My wife and I don't own one yet but we love the Ocean Breeze.

Thanks
Robert

dead dead bolt

We we're very fortunate - it was a private party sale. We had been looking for a Bambi for some time, and came across a Craig's List ad for what turned out to be an Ocean Breeze. A couple had purchased it new for their retirement, then sadly, he died before they could ever use it. It took a few years before the widow was ready to sell it.

For good karma, we're going to inscribe the widow's name somewhere inside before our maiden voyage.

Very interesting and sad at the same time. Good luck with the lock, I wouldn't think that it should be a difficult fix. Enjoy your new AS!
