Bargman L-200 How to lock it from outside? For Sale?

I took this from a donor trailer and have not installed it. I've got the new door on my bench still being bucked together. I took the lock to the locksmith and he made 3 keys. They seem fine.

I can unlock it from the outside.
I can lock it from the inside.
How the hell do you lock it from the outside?

He told me to hold down the handle while I close it? huh?

The key does not seem to be able to bring down the little latch (see Arrow) to lock it.

If I were to bring down the lever inside... which would bring down the latch... this would lock the bolt in the OUT position... so how would you close the door?

I'm also not convinced that I want to use this lock. My project is more of a canned ham and the door I'm fabbing will be new so anything will do. Good stuff on VTS. My point is... maybe I'll just sell it and start new.

Anyone know how to lock this from the outside? is the key supposed to do it? That is what I would suppose.
