Bargman L-100 Pics - need parts

Here are two photos of the Barkman L-100 lock that came with my 1969 Globe Trotter, not on the door but rather in a bucket of unattached parts. One picture shows the various parts lined up in the order in which the lock is assembled. the other is a closer view showing the various parts in more detail. Can anyone help me identify any missing parts. Its fairly obvious that two more screws are required. From reading other threads, I believe that I am also missing some additional washers or spacers. An exploded view showing how the lock is assembled would also help since I'm not certain about the orientation of a number of the pieces shown.

I have added another picture which suggests the need for even more parts. Notice the slot (notch) cast into the lower left corner of the piece on the right. When turned over, this feature falls over the flat area cast into the part on the left. What might this be for? Does it imply additional parts?

The only repair part for the L-100 or L-100 special that is available, is the striker bolts.

Bargman in fact, has no other parts for it.

That small area is for a small ball bearing. This helps it maintain a smooth action.

I just took apart my L-100 to clean, and when I did, the ball bearing described above & a spring were sitting there, loose. I haven't quite figured out how they fit back into that "small area" described by Joe Pfznik. Can anyone show me how? When I've tried experimenting so far, the spring ends up wrapped around the pin that turns inside, and the ball bearing then floats around loose. A photo or drawing would be very helpful... Thanks!

Arrowstream, I'd seen this photo in another thread (probably posted by you) and hadn't been able to figure out the locations of those parts... granted, I was looking at the image on my phone! ; ) I zoomed in on the image and will try to see if I can make heads or tails when I get home. Thank you!

Here's a little better picture. The bearing wasn't a repair kit part, so it wasn't highlighted or numbered, but you can almost make out the shape of what looks like a bearing at about the 11 o'clock position below part #14.

The bearing and spring do go in the slot. Here are two pictures of where the bearing and spring goes.

Does anyone know if the L-200 is also supposed to have the ball and spring mentioned above ? I'm trying to fix my L-200 and those parts are not there on mine.

From what I can tell about my ragged L100 is that the bearing and spring are there to give the sliding lock piece a positive feel when it travels from locked to unlocked. The spring loaded bearing moves from one V notch to the other giving you that "click" feel when the lock engages/dis-engages. And it may also puts just enough tension on the slide plate to keep it from moving by itself. If I didn't have the piece, I'd go ahead and rebuild without it.

Arrowstream is correct. You need this bearing and spring. Contact me if you need some parts. I am pretty sure the bear and spring are included in the Rebuild Kit of L-100/200.

arrowstream, thanks for the help. I must sheepishly admit I now found the ball embedded in grease stuck to the lock and the spring laying in the box I took the lock apart over (for just this reason) Sorry for the false alarm and to answer my own question, Yes the L-200 has a ball/spring.

Rick thanks again for your help, I'm currently trying to get my Key cylinder out still, it turns but won't slide out. If I can get it keyed I'm golden. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the pics! Fortunately, when I looked a little closer at pics I had taken when I was taking the lock apart, I was able to figure it out.

The hard part now is re-installing it on the door without the little washer, bearing & spring falling out! I spent about an hour trying to put it all together from photos. After having the spring & ball bearing pop off twice, and looking all over the ground to find them, I finally had to set the task aside for another day...

To find the missing bearing and spring, run a Magnet over the area where you lost it. I have great success doing this when I lose something made of steel. Once you find your items you be back in business.

I am in the process of rebuilding my Bargman L-200 that was not dependable on entering from the outside. Exiting and locking were fine. My L-200 is missing the ball bearing and spring the is under the sliding cast part with oval and apparently a screw in the end of the exterior know shaft. Apparently spring and pushing on exterior knob have an effect on the L-200 working properly. A few of the believed missing parts are not listed on Bargman schematic. Missing are the little spring , ball bearing, the 2nd "cam"* and the screw in the end of exterior knob shaft. * Apparently 1 cam moves the bolt and the other applies the lock to the bolt.???? We will get it done.....................sooner or later.

Bargman has not has any locks for almost 2 years, and for that matter, no parts either.

All you can do is find a used one somewhere or, replace the complete lock with a Tri-mark kit that is available.
