Anyone with paddle latch rebuilds?

We snapped the cast paddle latch off on the entry door to our 1973 Sovereign. It would appear that the latch itself works fine, but we will have to replace it (obviously) if we can't manufacture a repair to the cast. Hoping someone here has some suggestions!!! Not looking forward to what we will be spending to replace this.

That replacement part just might conceivably be available. Don't give up until you try looking around a little: Vintage Trailer Door Parts

Andy or Silver Trailer Supply might help, too.

Thanks for the suggestions on the additional places to search...I will get a picture tomorrow and post. Tonight the lock dropped on when I closed the door, so it will be back in through the window again tomorrow, thankfully I haven't replaced the screen yet and didn't lock the window!

1973 to 1977 is a KT lock. If your main housing is not cracked or broken all the parts for those locks are available to rebuild them. Out of doors mart has all the parts for those locks. They are not for the faint of heart to rebuild but can be done. I have done a few. You will have to fabricate some jigs to hold pieces of the lock so you can drill for roll pins to align the new handle. There is a replacement lock available for about $500.00 Inland RV sell a kit that uses a later style lock if you are not a purist like I am. Good luck.

Thanks Bugtussel. I saw the later style...must be I am a purist! After the suggestion for Silver Trailer Supply, I took a look at the site and think I found what I need. Tomorrow will bring a few measurements, and maybe I will be on the way to a rebuild. May be looking for a little guidance on the jigs, but not afraid of the challenge. Thankfully, the main housing appears to be intact.

Go to out of doors mart website they have the kt lock assembly on special this month if you want the whole lock assembly. If not they have all the parts plus a very good pic of the parts breakdown for the whole lock. They also have a pictures for some of the key adjustment you have to do if you rebuild your lock

Bugtussel, thanks for the additional info. It looks like that expanded diagram will be a lifesaver. We will be removing the whole shootin' match and making an assesment of what we need so we can get to the ordering of parts. She's due to be on the road in another month or so and Out of Doors mart has a few other odds and ends we need.
