Adjust door

Hello, I really have to slam my entry door to close it, otherwise the deadbolt won't even engage. Is there an easy way to adjust this or is a trip to the dealer in my future?

Thanks!

You don't indicate whether your unit is vintage or new. If new, warranty. If not, perhaps a visit to Inland (or your selling dealer) should be in your future.

I don't believe there are any easy ways to adjust your door. But it could indicate larger problems, so you should check it out.

I have a 2002 classic 30'. Sometimes the screws in the door hinges will come loose. I have also had to adjust the striker plate that is the place where the door latch mates to the door frame. The striker plate will loosen and move a little. I also have a problem if I do not have my stabilizer jacks down correctly, too much pressure on oen end or the other.
I would suspect the striker plate before attacking the door.

I had a similar problem with my 2006 Bambi. I struggled with it for over a year, had the dealer make an "adjustment" but with no avail. Finally took some silicone spray and hit the catch with it, problem solved! It's worked perfectly ever since.
Hope it turns out to be as simple for you, give it a shot.

What year is it? If its a newer vintage the hinge screws as discussed will losen. If you take the large striker bolt mounted on the door opening and mark it with a scribe and then remove it simply by unscrewing it... then close the door gently to its full close position. Watch the hinges to see if they are flexing or binding at the pins. If its easy to close and rests nicely in place its now a matter of reinstalling the striker bolt to its original position and go from there.. might have to come out a bit.. might have to up or down a bit.. watch the door to see what it does.. if it goes up when closing then bring the bolt down.. or if it binds down and is hard to close then go up with the striker. The nut behind the bolt will stay in place (at least mine did). you might find that you have to file the bolt opening a bit to achieve the perfect adjustment. All the while make sure the coach is level and the jacks and just touching with even pressure so it doesnt tweek the trailer.. good luck. not to hard to attack.

My apologies, it's a new 09 26' international, still under warranty, but I'd rather try to fix myself first if easy...

I don't like my dealer and the repairshop plus don't want to spend the time for dropping off and picking up unless i have to.

Also as a note the door always needed a good slamming to be shut... Me beeing naive I thought that was normal, but I tried to close others since and it's much less of an issue...

Thanks!
