Accordian door latch help
Any thoughts on how to replace the latch on my accordion door? Attached is a pic of the replacement parts.
The part on the right is the one that is broken. The end of the door appears to be a hollow plastic extrusion generally shaped like a railroad rail mounted vertically. The part is mounted inside the extrusion and fastened with a pair of POP rivets such that when the end of the door is pressed over the peg on the opposite wall, the latch grips it through a 3/8" hole. The only access appears to be from the top or bottom of the door. The latch is about midway.
My thought is to drill out the rivets and let all fall out the bottom. Then use fishing line to pull the replacement into position and use a spring hook through one mounting hole to hold the latch in place while installing a POP rivet in the other. With one end secured I should be able to install the 2nd rivet. I think this will take 3 hands and a lot of patience. Is there a better way?
