A deadbolt that couldn't wait!

Our family 1999 23' Safari is on it's way back home with some repair needed due to a self-locking deadbolt and I wondered if anyone has a solution. Some of my family members arrived in Flagstaff AZ and found that the door was locked and there was no way into the trailer. The key worked just fine, but the door wouldn't open. A few phone calls to some very willing-to-help dealers made it clear that the only way into the trailer was thru the back storage compartment. Unfortunately, that meant cutting thru the bottom of the bed in very confined quarters. It was done, but I'm afraid that there is a lot of carpentry work ahead to make repairs. The deadbolt on the lock operates from the inside, and isn't separate as on the newer trailers. Is there any fix for this. We don't want to go there again!

Kevin, that's a newer style, or at least different style, lock than is on my '99. Our latch/lock looks like the upper part, but there is a built-in deadlock inside, and no separate deadlock below. Just one lock cylinder operates the lock. Our trailer has been used very little, and can't be suffering from much wear. I think we are going to have to disable the deadlock, or find some way to positively hold it open.

That link is good, though, as we have a 2006 28 CCD with that lock, and we are going to get Inland's fix right away.
