'76 door lock question

While I think I already know the answer; does anyone know a source for repairing this lock?

(clearly I don't know how the "insert image" function works. I'll keep trying and will post it eventually.)

Key just spins now. AS is a 1976 Sovereign. Everything still works except the locking function.

Any help, suggestions, comments much appreciated.

out of door mart sells the internal springs, take care once apart. The cosmetic outer edge is pot metal and will fracture when pounding on the alignment pins.

Easy to take apart (from the inside). You'll have to go inside and see whats happening - they're real simple, I fixed mine. Worst case - somethings broken and you need a new lock - they are sold by Vintage and Andy. Might just be a bad cylinder - easy to get new one at lock shop.

Banking on the cylinder. Ordered one to rework it before the weekend but the urgency gave way so I have sometime. Thanks for the tips. I appreciate the help.

But now that I've moved the first pawn, let the renovation games begin.

I had the same thing happen on my 72 Argosy. I took it apart and cleaned the moveables, used WD40, and re-assembled. The lock works well now.
These things are a very simple mechanism, so if there is a broken part you'll see it immediately. If not, clean, lubricate, and you're probably good to go.
Do be careful though, they are easy to break

So does anyone know how to "slip" the lock out go the door??

Got the lock loose and ready to pull, but with catch open and angling out, the knob arm is to long to clear the hole. A little stuck.

Thanks.

Don't know what you mean by the "knob arm". If it is the interior handle. It can be removed.
You may have to drill a few rivets out on the interior skin to give you the additional clearance.

Yes, the arm the interior handle attaches to. Handles off, set screw was easy, but like I explained earlier, the arm just won't quite clear the hole it projects through. Close, but no.

Feel like the lock should slip right out but obviously I'm missing something. Thanks.

And I should have listened to my wife.

Service manual got here and procedure for lock removal is exactly what she said. Drill out a few near by rivets on the inside of the door and gently lift inner skin enough to clear lock arm and slide lock out.

Not what I was expecting.

There are a couple of dealers that repair KT locks.
