David is a straight shootin' guy. I'd contact him and see what he can do before I went elsewhere. A lot of folks like David do something great and are totally inaccessible...that's not the case, at least what I found. I'd do business with David in a heartbeat if the opportunity came up again.

Yep!

Just like I said.... David replied within 24 hrs to me to say that he will likely have another run of the Home Sweet Home guard this summer. That is what I consider a quick response from a great vendor to us! Ed

I wish....

Brutally cold here yesterday and going to be colder yet today. But when I think of how soon summer will be here it warms me right up! So see you will be able to get that much desired screen guard after all. Patience is a virtue, no matter what you may have heard. Ed

I bought one of the "Home Sweet Home" screen door guards from David Wynick when they first came out. I paid, if I remember correctly a little over $100.00 with shipping. Well, it didn't fit the screen door on my 1976 Sovereign or the screen door on my 1994 Classic. It wasn't wide enough for the predrilled screw holes to catch the frame of either door. I emailed David and explained the problem and asked for an exchange. He emailed back saying something about this was a problem with the first batch and that he would be making more and would let me know when they were ready and I could exchange it. Well, I never heard back and this was over many months. I emailed again and got pretty much the same response. Now well over a year has gone by and still no response. The long and short of the story is David responded to my emails but never followed up to tell me if or when the guards were being made or ask me to return it for a refund because there were no more or offered a replacement. The quality of the door guards are excellent but if it doesen't fit the intended purpose it's nice looking but pretty much useless.Maybe he was busy, maybe he forgot,I don't know what happened. After two years of gathering dust I sold it at a loss making sure to state the measurements in the add. I've since bought an Airstream Co. guard and that does fit my 07 Classic.

It's too late now but if I had that problem, I would send it back and call my credit card company, explain that the item was returned and dispute the charge.

Screen Door sizes...

I did not know that since the late 80s there were differences in the sizes of the screen doors. The main door is the same size.....I belive.

The screen door guard that I bought from Airstream factory store is a honey. It fits my 05 like a charm and looks great. I put mine directly over the sliding pass thru hole that allows you to access the door from the inside.

I would have bought it directly from David, allowing him to have any product mark up but he did not have any of the "The Airstream Company", Jackson Center OH, and I preferred that one. I am too a small business guy and appreciate what a guy like David does, and how much work goes into running and managing a small business.

That is the beauty of a laser cutter, changing the setup is not that hard, load in the next file. The spacing of a name might be a problem but I am sure the numbers could be worked out easy enough. But then what the hell do I know.

Member name and Forums number screen guard

Jim, Maybe this would interest David Winick. If there is enough interest who knows? I think on on the front window screen would be a real hit. It would be wide enough to easily be seen when passing by trailers at a rally! I thin I have some thinnin to do Lucy! Ed

Wheee! I got one!

I got the screen door guard that reads: The Airstream Company Jackson Center, Ohio today! For a story about the adventure of ordering it on line look at my post on the thread about Airsteam Co. Awful Website. Ed

Oh Yeah...

Now if you order the screen guard from the on-line store you should receive the one that is pictured on the web site. Those of you who got the wrong one should e-mail them regarding the mistake. I am sure they will correct it with you. Unless of course you prefer the more expensive one that is... Lol! Ed

I ordered the Airstream Company Jackson Center Ohio guard from the Airstream store, it arrived bent, (but beautiful). The folks there replaced it no questions asked (properly packaged this time) and it looks great (cool the way it shows thru the window in the door). For those interested in the Home Sweet Home door guard it is still available thru trailertrashe.com I've not ordered anything from them, but the picture looks great!
