'75 Safari - just had the door handle break off

All--

Just bought a 75 Safari... and was trying to open the door and the handle snapped off in my hand. Not off to a good start.

The latch housing in the entry door seems fine (except for a bit of surface corrision) ... but the handle had snapped off at the pivot/hinge point.

I'm pretty mechanical so I not concerned about taking the mechanism apart... so do I just need one of these to make it better?

Or should I look at one of Andy's retrofit door latch?

Thanks,
Ron

That depends on what else the lock might need.

Is the striker bolt face smooth? If not, that's another expensive part.

How about the striker plate and brass shim? That kicks the price up again.

Andy--

Good point. I'll have to take it apart and access what I got to work with.

I also noticed that your latch/lock upgrade kit has a plate to help match up with the new latch. Do you have any pictures of an installed kits on a mid 70's door?

Thanks,
Ron
