Sheared screws in door lock...

I have a fun one... I just tried removed my door lock, and 1 screw stripped and two sheared off! Given that the block is pretty soft aluminum, any suggestion on extracting/drilling out the screws? I can liv with bigger screws, but afraid the drilling out process will wreck the mounting blocks...

There is not much body to the backside of the KT locks.

DO NOT any size drill bit except one that will barely clean out the screws.

'73 Door Handle went to crap

If they broke on removal, they must be stuck big time.

The only advise I can give is obvious,,, to do your best to get those holes started dead center.

It often helps to get the broken pieces of screws filed flat, this helps finding and keeping the drill bit dead center, but it is hard to do if the piece is still in place.

Start with a small bit and work your way bigger. With a little luck the broken pieces will come loose before you hit threads.

I have found that I do better drilling broken bolts out dead center when I absolutely have to do so.

I don't know if anyone is still following this thread over a year later, but I am in need of some help with this lock.

When I re-insulated the door I misplaced the two screws that are vertical which hold the lock in place and on the door. Does anyone know the size of those?

Thanks in advance.

You have to drill the rivets out where the two inner inner skins are joined. Pull the skin out enough to remove the mechanism.
