'68 Sovereign Main Door Adjustment

Hello All,
I noticed when we returned home that the door on the 68 is sagging to the right. Its dropped about 16th of an inch to the right, the side that opens. It has sagged to the point that the top is bent from hitting the cowling. It seems that there is movement where the pin is going through the hinge.

If I lift up on the lower right corner it seems to fit where it should. Is there a proper way to repair this problem?
Thanks
Ed

Yes, there is an easy repair, but lengthy to post.

Call me Monday and I will tell you how to repair it, and then you can do the post, to let others know how to.

Andy

One of two right ways to repair the problem is to replace the hinge. But the hinge is No Longer Available. The other right way is to have the hinge machined for bushings. The problem there is that the hinge will have to be totally removed, and a willing machinist located.

In the past, Inland Andy has recommended re-orienting the door on the hinge. While this fix will make the door look right again, there is much room for error if not done properly.

I had the same problem four years ago and fixed it with no drilling.

FWIW, that was roughly 10,000 miles ago, and the solution has proven to be effective with no consequences.
