65 Safari deadbolt

Hello, I would like to install a deadbolt on my 1965 Safari. I currently have no deadbolt, but there is a space for a deadbolt in the door frame below my lock. Did these trailers come with a deadbolt? Maybe the PO replaced the door without a deadbolt? Either way. Is it okay to put a deadbolt in the door, instead of on the trailer body, beside the door? Here are photos. I recently replaced the plastic on the top lock. This is what it looked like underneath the cap.
Thanks for the advice!
Scott

Hi Scott I have a 65 Safari that we restored ,and there is a dead bolt. You didn’t show a picture of the door , mine has a 5 inch offset for the deadbolt and knob. I have posted this a few years ago, hope this helps

Hello St.pierre,
Thanks for your response. Here are more photos. It should make my question much clearer. I should have posted these before. I kind of lost perspective, from staring at it for so long.

St.Pierre,
thanks so much!
That is the info I was looking for.
I am purchasing the deadbolt tonight.
Installation soon!
Nice photos BTW. It took me a little while to understand that I was seeing a reflection of your metal building. Pretty cool..
thanks again, Scott
