Thumbs up 3 parts question

Why does the forum software always insist that I've already uploaded the new thread within the last 5 minutes? And then make me do it again?

(Please see photo below)What's missing from this picture?

1. Is there suppose to be a latch that holds the screen door to the entry door?

2. My screen door latch is not very well attached, how can I take one of those apart so that I can re-rivet it back on?

3. Lastly...what's my interior lock handle (trigger?) suppose to look like?

Thanks!!!

Steve

p.s. I know I'm missing the screen door's sliding cover thing...I'm waiting on the rest of this stuff before I fabricate something.

Yes it is still available at most RV stores or online. Sort of a roller latch assembly.

2. My screen door latch is not very well attached, how can I take one of those apart so that I can re-rivet it back on?

I would just replace it, it is also available online.

handle (trigger?) suppose to look like?

As far as I've seen just like the one in your picture.

Thanks!!!

Steve

Hope this helps.

Thumbs up

Q: My screen door latch is not very well attached, how can I take one of those apart so that I can re-rivet it back on?
A: I would just replace it, it is also available online.

That latch is riveted from the latch side not the door side. I cannot see either end of the rivets. It's as if the base of the latch is riveted on and then the spring and top part(the catch?) snap over it. It may be a permanent non-removable installation. I was hoping that there was a trick to disassembling one.

Q: What's my interior lock handle (trigger?) suppose to look like?
A: As far as I've seen just like the one in your picture.

The lock handle not the door handle. I have no way to lock the door latch from the inside .

Does anyone have a picture like mine but complete with parts so I can see what it's suppose to look like?

Thanks again,

Steve

Lock "trigger"

I assume you mean for the deadbolt? Mine (and Gary's) is just a threaded post with a small thicker end to grip. It goes up and down. I think a small bolt with the same thread pattern would work. My screen latch is the same size, but is a garden variety brass "slider" that would latch a small gate or screen. Something like out of Home Depot would work.
Is that what you are after? Gary's photo shows all the parts (although my slider is brass, not black).

The reason Gary's slider is black is because he has the OEM NLA Airstream spring latch. These were used all over the 70's era trailers. They either quit making them or ran out of them in the mid to late 90's

Thanks for all the help guys, and Janet

I hate to destroy my "OEM NLA Airstream spring latch" taking it off but I guess I can replace it if I have no alternative
