1973 Tradewind broken door handle

I have a 1973 Tradewind. Unfortunately the door handle is broken. The mechanism is approximately 4 inches wide by 5 inches high with a lock cylinder at the top of the mechanism. The door handle is flat to the surface and is approximately 2" x 3". I'm not sure what type of lock it is or if I can purchase the handle only.

If you have a 73 trailer, the lock your describing, is not the original lock.

How about a photo?

A 73 originally came with the KT lock.

1973 Airstream - Broken Door

Following please find pictures of the door. If it is not an original someone did an excellent job of installing the replacement.

Indeed they did! It looks like possibly your entire door has been replaced. I've not seen a '73 with a "portal window" installed in the door. Looks like you have a previous owners modification.

I'm going to get yelled at by everybody here, but have you had a locksmith look at it??

Obviously, the door is from a later model, which is not an uncommon thing when the original door was damaged.

The lock that you have was made by Keeler Brass. They have been out of business for years.

However, there is an newer style lock available, that comes in kit form.

I don't think the door was replaced, just rebuilt. Does anyone have a panel seam on their door like this?

A later year model door had windows in many of them.

That door seam is on every Airstream built since 1966.

Parts are not available for the Keeler Brass lock.

However, lock kits are available that replace the entire lock, using adapter plates. It's that or nothing, unless a person wants to reskin the door, inside and out. Be advised, however, that the original interior "vinyl clad" metal is no longer available.
