Question 1963 rear hatch / compartment door lock

Anyone have an idea how to replace the old locks on access doors? I only have one key and can not find anyone in central Indiana able to match the key.

The lock / barrel is less than 1/2 inch in diameter.. standard rv locks are too big... any ideas?

I have attached pictures...
tks, Z.

Good Locksmith...

Hi Z,

I good locksmith should be able to key that lock!

If not, why not buy a replacement?

Since you have access to everything.

?

Will phone a locksmith about "Keying". Would prefer replacements because i have 3 compartment doors to swap out... I thought I'd just pop in new locks but as shown... These 1963 locks are tiny and nothing matches up ... Yet... Tks. z

I have had new keys made several times, but new ones can also be had at vintage trailer supply for about 5 bucks

FYI- this is not a standard barrel rv/camper lock. It is very small in comparison. I have just contacted Illinois Lock Company- they are the original 1963 manufacture and they are reviewing photos and will get back to me with options. Tks!

Thank you! yes! I contacted the original 1963 key/lock manufacture yesterday (still in business!!!!!)they will be quoting me on new cylinders and/or new keys. I was able to confirm that keys are NOT available through standard locksmiths & key cutters etc... Good to know after going to over 10 business's in an attempt to get keys made... My locks work fine... I only have one key and its integrity is compromised... Only a matter of time before it breaks or gets lost.... So thrilled to be successfully preemptive on this one.... Z.

Wondering if you will share the contact info on the lock mfg? I would like to purchase either new keys or locks as I, too, have only one key for my 63 overlander and know it will only be a matter of time before disaster strikes on this front. Thanks,
Mary
