Old CB ball mount

one of the previous owners installed a CB ball mount that has since lost 1/2 of the ball and the black 3 screw mount is starting to deteriorate, leaving black streaks down the side of my trailer. It is mounted on the street side and the cable is accessible from one of the rear wardrobe cabinets. I want to eliminate this eyesore but would like suggestions on a clean repair. I have extra alum. sheeting left over from my tire blowout fiasco coming back from AZ. Would a round patch riveted into the 3 screw holes and vulcum to seal it work out?

A patch would work, but I would add about 3 more Olympic rivets just to be on the safe side. I think the aluminum patch would be less noticeable than the following solution...

I know they make patch plates for these. I have not seen them lately, but they used to be listed in Ham Radio and Radio Shack catalogs. Some Hams just can't seem to cut enough holes in their vehicles. I know I bought one from Radio Shack back in the late '70's. I had one of those big old whip antennaes on a Custom van I owned and had to remove it for resale.

Bobby,
I remember those patch plates myself but in looking on the internet for CB supplies I did not see any listed. I will probably go with the patch idea because it will blend in better. With 6 olympic rivets I think is will look first class, I hope!
