Hi Vern and Igor
Great - I understand that a station will only show up on the station list if ON the air - But listing on the Alarms is great and we will connect! I agree. this would be great to unit a fraternity of A/S Hams on this program. Since I have been the Airstream ARC(Amateur RadioClub) I have seen no activity - this would be a great activator for interest - I had actually decided that being a member of the A/S ARC was pointless if there was little or no activity on the net. This program is so convenient and easy to use-beats the static and problems with radio and amp for sure.

IT JUST DAWN ON ME...Another 4 years and, I'll have been in HAM radio for 50 years...Oh my GAWD...
Seems like just yesterday I was a snutty nose teenager..

Reflections:
Tis was when I first saw and purchased my first transistor..CK722, ($4, when I was making .35 cents an hour...Oh yes..That was the time when I purchased my first rcvr too, S-38b or whatever for $25...lol)
Built my first xmitter using 117L7GT and a 40 mtr crystal...Morse code if you plse..
Send hundreds, if not thousands of CQ's before someone decided I wasn't standard freq signal and, answered...lmao..Turns out he lived just up the street from me..
Hey, what did you expect for #47 lite bulb dummyload??

"The WBCCI Amateur Radio Club expecting to see quite a bit of interest in Ham Radio in Airstreams, but todate the activity if Zero."

If my experience at the Boise '98 international rally is any indicator, the activity will remain low They didn't want anyone unknown checking into their 2m traffic net. (that rally really showed me why WBCCI is having membership and rally attendance problems in general, too)

Can you imagine a ham giving the cold shoulder to someone asking about his antenna? Happened there, too.

Angry Cold Ham?

WOW!

I'm a bit of a recluse and I will still chat with people about my antenna's! During the huge remodel, I'll add coax to somewhere to have an external antenna on the AS and some kind of mount or at least power tap for a mobile radio.

HMM! 2x 12 VDC batteries, wonder how long I can work Field Day?

Okay, don't get me started! I can't even go there yet, maybe after the huge remodel, I'll have to upgrade my license to I CAN work Field Day.

BTW, did you know that with just your call-sign, I can get a map to your house?

I would like to learn how to be a Ham... I only have a 40 channel CB.

It's one of those things you say 'I'm gonna do that someday"... but after the kids are gone.

My local Community College had a class, but cut it due to budget restraints.

Anybody have any guidance for me?

You can practice the exam at http://www.qrz.com/testing.html.

Just keep going over it until your comfortable with the answers.

Then you can check out www.arrl.com and find a local club that will usually offer the test for around $5 and help you fill out the forms.

You can get started with out knowing morse code.

Good luck!
